We have a sweet 9-year old boy staying the weekend. He just came back from camp so he had a bag of washing. It's still a bag of washing as our machine is not working!
I just realised I cannot take him to church in this state tomorrow, so took him an outfit to wash at Penny's - my wonderful next-door-neighbour/counsellor/friend!
Today there was beautiful sunshine. DH & I went for the obligatory Full English at Dobbies at 9am, then people mainly played table tennis, Fred did some more drilling with the manual drill I got at that table sale (ace!). I decided to sort out the saucepans & baking equipment into one cupboard & all the bulk foodstuffs into another, closer to the oven. That took ages, there was a lot to clean and some stuff to give away.
When I was putting some ice lollies (lolly ices if you're scouse) into the freezer I had to finally admit to myself that the freezer doesn't close. It hasn't for weeks really.
So I turned it off & began hacking away at the ice with various bits of metal. It really was 80% snow & ice in there. I wish I'd taken before & after photos!
It looks great now & so empty. I don't really buy frozen food, it's just there for batch cooking. I put some containers of water in to fill it up.
It closes!
I picked up Tom Brown's School-days & The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas last week & I've had a look at Tom Brown. the language is too archaic for our kids at the moment. TBITSJ has got me hooked though. I love to read the book before seeing the film if possible, the book is always better.
