We had a surprise visit from a very special friend, aka The Hurricane, and her two little darlings on Saturday. I made leek & potato soup, did a little knitting with miss P and then The Hurricane & her baby went to sleep for a couple of hours. Then she had to do some knitting too! I am knitting a sparkly pastel rainbow unicorn. It is actually quite big, that's no good as i often run out of patience.
We'll see!
Today I was doing Sunday school, or Junior Church as we call it here (I cannot get used to that!)
I prepared it okay, but to my horror (! The Drama !) there were 12 in my group aged 5-8 and it was rather difficult to keep control / get any of them to stop talking. This job is always a struggle for me - thankfully I only do it once every 5 weeks or something. I do pray about it & my attitude. I realise it is important & a privilege to share the gospel & the love & grace of Christ with these children. But how can they hear the Bible when they are all talking?
I used to help out in class & I have been a lunchtime supervisor, and in both of these positions I never had the authority to shut people up & get them to listen/obey, this is not a new issue for me and it is part of why I became a childminder, not a teacher!
Actually while reflecting on the Junior church experience today, It occurred to me that the very children who would sit & listen to me are in fact people I have child minded. The ones who actually know me.
After that it was church lunch, a bouncy castle and a kind of interview session with A & E, our potential new co-pastor & his wife, who are adorable. I really hope they come, it is not finalised yet.
Then I had to come home for a sleep, the mornings experience really did knock the wind out of me. Then DH had made a lovely roast, a fab meal, and I opened one of my *homemade* jars of apple sauce and it was delicious too! When I was making it, the smell of cinnamon sticks was so strong, i thought it would be too spicy/christmas biscuity for putting on potatoes, but not at all! It was just right, which means I can use the remaining jars for christmas gifts. YAY! We are going to call them Lovel Orchard or something!
Then off to prayer meeting, there were only 4 of us, all friends, rather cosy! The boys have had their chapter of Lord of the Rings read, so goodnight! x x
