Well, I just got back from two wonderful days in Stafford. It didn't start too well - halfway to the station, I realised I only had the return part of the tickets & not the outward journey! We sped home to look for it but to no avail. Went back to the station in disgrace & bought another ticket!
Popped into the Soup Kitchen for tea & lemon meringue pie. As far as I'm aware, it's illegal to visit Stafford without saying hello to Duncan at the S.K.
We each bought some lovely variegated yarn in the market & looked around the shops.
Mum had a hospital appointment about her tremors, that's why I was there. We had an eventful time, I would say any mundane activity mum & I attempt, soon becomes an adventure! There was lots of laughing when the Dr tested mum's reflexes by running a pointy stick up the soles of her feet! etc!
Then we got back in time for tea which dad had prepared after his jury duty. We had an interesting discussion for hours that evening about Flylady, church, what the Lord is doing & what we are doing.
First thing this morning I joined my parents in their daily bible reading routine - they read 2 chapters each of 3 different books. Today it was Genesis, Job & Luke. They read a verse each around. It was such a joy to share God's living word with them. After that they lay hands on each other & pray, so I was up for a bit of that, too.
Mum is still so thrilled with the events of this summer - all that has happened as a result of her getting cancer. We have all seen more of each other, She & dad have got more serious about their bible/prayer routine etc. Many blessings, and especially her total lack of pain in the affected area. It is a miracle.
This morning we decided to go and have a look at the court proceedings, seeing as we have never done that before. Dad said "Don't come into mine, it'll be embarrassing" So we didn't, we went to court four & saw two quite short hearings. I found the second one quite harrowing, a very young man in jail already on a long sentence, having been convicted of dozens of violent crimes beginning at the age of...ten! Mum would have stayed in but I was quite upset by all we'd heard, so we adjourned (!) to the Soup Kitchen for soup & a cheese scone. Mmm. Cheese scones!
Went in a few 2nd hand shops, got a few stocking fillers.
This afternoon we had a look at a couple of shops, then took a bus to Dunelm Mill, I love that shop & our nearest is Warrington or St Helens...
It is great, full of interesting housewares, it is very satisfying to just look at everything and then go for a cup of tea & a slice of cake upstairs. I bought myself a bright turquoise silicon stirring spoon. For christmas.
Mum was a bit fatigued by then so we went back home, she had a lie down & I had a read of her books.
And now, home sweet home.
