on The Shack

Further thoughts on the Shack - after a word with my pastor this evening!
I wouldn't recommend the Shack to a non-christian or a young-in-the-faith person.
One thing I like is the emphasis on the Lord's love for humans. This cannot be over emphasised as God Is Love, yet we seem unable to avoid sneaking negative thoughts of Him.
There are many concepts in the book which are the author's thoughts or perspectives on things, which are not in line with the Bible.  The one I particularly recall is when God the Father was speaking of Christ on the cross: "I never left him alone" or something and I thought of Jesus saying "Why hast thou forsaken me?" which left me wondering,
It certainly is not a complete gospel & something I hadn't considered is the issue of creating a graven image of the Lord, 2nd commandment. It must be taken seriously, though I don't understand that this has occurred.
The confusing issue of modalism came up as I read reviews etc when deciding whether to bother reading the shack, I looked up a few definitions of modalism, and I cannot see it in the book.
On the whole it seems it would be better not to read it as there are so many misleading(?) things among the helpful ones.
I've clearly bitten off more'n I can chew here!
Read the bible instead!
