Outward Bound! and Ruby DX

So. Monday - Outward Bound! with the older kids from gap (age 8+)
It was a fun day out, the children did abseiling, ladder balance, rescue fido, orienteering (the least said about that bit the better!) and archery. There were a few wobbly moments, but we had a good day all round, mixed & bonded with the good home edding folks of liverpool, and met a couple of ppl we hadn't met before. So all good.
Oh yeah, and it was FREE! yay!
I left Jojo at home with two lovely friends from church.

Would you be surprised to hear I had to have a nap for about two hours after.....

Tuesday, Jojo still off with suspected pneumonia, but getting much better, so I took him to GAP. Carrie gave us a lift, we had interesting convos as ever there.
I was dead on my feet for BSF but glad I went.

This morning, Ruby had her session with the speech therapist, 1/3rd of the assessment for diagnosis of Aspergers. A very nice Sp Therapist named Anoushka came & we chatted.  She agreed it's def aspergers, only the Ed Psych needs to agree now. He/she will not need to come to the house unless he reads both the other 2 dr's positive diagnoses & disagrees.

Why do I want a diagnosis of Aspergers for Ruby? Certainly, if she doesn't get one, we will carry on our lives as usual! However we will take any help available, and she will be entitled to extra time in exams (due to slower comprehension process) and possibly/hopefully be allowed to "write" her exam papers using computer. (different motor skills/appalling handwriting). these would remove two of the big stressors of exams and leave her with only the usual amount of exam stress!
In a job interview Ruby would not be required to "Disclose" a dx (diagnosis) unless for police or army-unlikely!  but it is recognised in college/university as a disability and she would get more understanding/assistance if need be.

also If there is any DLA going I will have it & use for her gcses!

after that i went to the retail and had a coffee/cake with A, a mentally disabled lady from BSF. we went in the new Costa (other horribly overpriced, smelly cafe's are available!) which is located inside Next  and only two doors down from the old Costa, which is still open.
