Approved Food

Tuesday we went to GAP, came home, had chicken curry & chips, and went to BSF. YAY!
there weren't many people at GAP, and there were two new families.

So glad to be back at BSF!

Today I posted my ebay parcels, and popped into Parklands (Lola's school) to enquire about the possibility of Ruby sitting her exams there. They said I'll have to inquire through the LA. So I will.

We have PW's youngest here today, she's just one year old and a little ray of sunshine!
I made leek & potato soup for lunch.

Oh yeah, today I made my first order from ApprovedFood.co.uk.
It is a website that sells foods & products which have just/recently gone out of date, or are about to.
I spent £43 on 97 products, free delivery cos it's my first order and over £30.
I got lots of litres of fruit juices, pasta, sauces, condiments, a couple of snacks & sweets, (i.e. 10 cadburys halloween-themed creme eggs for a £) tinned fruit, soup, some ready-to-eat indian vegetarian meals...(can serve at side of some meat for the family) 20 dry packets of my fave Winiary Barszcz (Borsht beetroot soup) 10p each. Olive oil 150ml 99p, even some italian version of appelation controlee pasta!

It's rather exciting, it gets delivered next mon-thurs. It's a bit like a hamper. of course some things may be a bit past-it and unusable. And really I would like to start making a lot of these things myself / I'm aiming to make something from scratch almost every day.I DO need a bigger freezer though, for that to really work.

I did chicken pesto wraps, a menu idea from "Mother of Seven" blog. Sautee the chicken. Spread the wrap with pesto. then put the chicken inside the wrap with grated mozzarella and gently fry both sides.

A lot of ASD parents are all asking the same question: "How can you tell whether each unwanted behaviour is caused by ASD or just plain naughtiness?" And I usually say, "I don't know!" so today I got my copy of "Blame it on the brain?" by Edward T Welch. It's a christian perspective on "Distinguishing chemical imbalances, brain disorders and disobedience."

It looks like it will be hard work and I'll no doubt learn some new, long / scientific sounding words along the way. But I am very interested to hear what Welch has to say. He is a counselor at CCEF, which i mentioned here.
