They are building a Toby Carvery near our home, between Dobbies garden centre & in front of the new housing estate called "Imagine Park". Imagine there's a park! So on Thursday we were discussing that, and inevitably(?) found ourselves at the Greenhills carvery for lunch! there were 4 ladies, 3 babies & 3 kids, so that was a fun crowd! apologies to anyone who'd gone in for a quiet lunch that day!
Then there was no housegroup that night, sometimes it's nice to be given a night off. Lola & I wrapped some christmas presents for her brothers. She got that christmassy feeling!
Friday we couldn't particularly get up (Ruby) so I just did some errands & tried to catch up on housework, and made some delicious cinnamon rolls, recipe here. Mine weren't quite as professional, but we sure enjoyed them.
Then we watched the 2nd half of Derren Brown: Apocalypse. The boys were abed. The girls didn't want to be scared so we put the TV on "TV guide" and watched it in the tiny inset screen in the top corner! Daft. Then of course they couldn't go straight to bed, we have vivid imaginations/capacity for nightmares in our family, so we watched Michael Palin in the Amazon, visiting 2 different remote tribes. Wonderful.
On Saturday morn my DH & I went to Dobbies for our breakfast as usual. then I prepared Mongolian Beef Stew (recipe here) cos Liz & Brian came for tea. It went down VERY well with rice. I had the juice, i loved it. I also made apple pasties using the apples from our tree. Score! they were lovely with a bit of custard, blackberries & ice cream. Mmm!
5-7pm I took the boys to Grace church Halewood's First Ever Glow-In-The-Dark Party! it was a great idea, doing various games in the dark, with lots of glow-up accessories so you could see each other. Inevitably Jojo & Fred didn't particularly want to join in, and F had a fit after a little girl nicked his glowstick. but they enjoyed the hotdogs & hot choc with marshmallows in. I enjoyed meeting a couple of people I know there too.
That evening we played trivial pursuit, the continents version. girls vs boys. Needless to say (!) Liz & I won. It was fun.
SO on to this morning. I couldn't really get anyone up & ready, so we didn't go to church, so DH & I, F & R went for a woodland walk at Sherdley Park, St Helens. We haven't been before, it was quite good with a mini farm too, so we really enjoyed that. We really need to get out into nature a lot more.
Will attempt to add photos later.
For tea i made chicjen fried rice with the leftovers from yesterday & It was Quite Good. Yay!
