'kay, it was a fairly quiet day at the Noah's Cafe. well, very quiet. But then ...(dramatic music please) an Environmental Health Inspector turns up for our very first, unannounced kitchen inspection! We panicked! i.e. someone ordered a breakfast, and no-one wanted to fry an egg because HE would be watching! Etc!
Anyway of course (?) everything was fine and he said we'd get four or five out of five (can't remember exactly) and he gave a few recommendations as they always do.
But we were all a bit hyper because of the stress of it and later we had a Bit Of Inter-Personal Drama in the kitchen.
This sort of thing really gets to me, Thankfully I kept my mouth shut & had to pray a lot to keep focused on doing my work and Being Cheerful and Polite for the rest of the afternoon. I had to have a quick word with the Pastor, just needed to vent my feelings & he listened & gave his two pennyworth, and I must say he had spoken v well at the time of the Drama.
Around 2.30 the Cafe is closed, the kitchen workers begin to leave, to collect their kids from school, and our Lovely Part Time Trainee & SuperLady & I get busy cleaning up the Cafe and the main hall where Welcum Club has been held. This involves a lot of loading our small-but-very-fast dishwasher, getting another tray of dirties ready, unloading, drying & putting away. A LOT of that. and mopping & cleaning & stuff.
It is really hard work but it is such a JOY working with these people who LOVE to serve the Lord!
Thanks for that Joy, Lord! It makes it all so doable!
Also, Superlady is an adoptive mum, YAY for adoption!! And I love to support her in any way I can. It often seems there is nothing I can do. But I realise that doing my best in the Cafe & being reliable there is probably the best way I can support her. Strange but true.
Praise the Lord!
