Hearing God's Voice

I was having a discussion last night with a precious christian friend who I have learnt so much from. We were talking about Hearing the Lord Speak to us personally, and we disagreed 100%.  I could be totally wrong!
We agree that the Living Lord speaks to us is through the Bible, His Living Word. It is true, it is complete. Everything we need is in there, and He gives us the Holy Spirit to understand & apply His Word in our lives.

And here's where we disagree: "Z" insists that the words of the Bible are the ONLY way He chooses/uses to speak to us, His flock.
My experience is that He uses many ways to communicate direction, help us make decisions etc. Such as:
Audible words
Strong feelings/spiritual "urges"
Music
The words of a friend
Circumstances.
and more I can't think of right now.

None of these are sufficient alone, for me to be sure It is the Heavenly Lord speaking, and also, I don't wanna be responsible for putting words in His mouth - terrifying!
But by prayer, and checking if the above methods are consistent with His Word, consistent with His character etc, I believe I can be sure it is Him speaking to me by the Holy Spirit.

Have I swallowed a heresy here?

John 10:27 says "My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
And in the last couple of years I have had a wonderful time in the Word, reading it & praying a lot more than I ever had before. And I felt His presence, so wonderful. And I learned to hear His loving voice Through His word.

I am very aware that satan lies to us constantly, and his lies always sound extremely close to the truth. I pray if this is what's happened to me, my Saviour will show me.
