It is a celebration of everything I try to avoid!
When they were little we would go to "Light Parties" as an avoidance-but-not-missing-out ruse.
A couple of years we hid out in the back bedroom! Not Proud. But I couldn't handle it & didn't know what to do!
Last year a super lady from church had a halloween party, we went along. I found it difficult to smile & be gracious surrounded by people dressed as the devil etc "for fun". The devil is not fun. Anyway, trying not to rant, I know SuperLady had a point - Halloween is here, so let's get involved & get the gospel out there!
I agree, but I have 30-odd years of anti-halloween conditioning to get over!
I guess my previous non-participation must have been a sign to local kids: You're not welcome. I hate fun. I won't join your games. Christians hate fun. etc
So what will my sign be this year?
My plan is to put lanterns outside my door, dress up
A precious ole lady from up the street comes knocking every 1st november with 4 made-up bags of sweets for my kids, saying, "Oh I was expecting them to knock". How sweet. So I might have the kids go & knock at hers on the day.
I need a lot of prayer & preparation !
