New Years Day

We were going to join church for its annual New Years Day walk in Delamere Forest yesterday, but it was cancelled due to high winds.   So we went to Calderstones park instead, the two boys brandishing their swiss army knives.   It was rather wet and Jojo fell over into some mud immediately upon entering the park...
still we had a good walk, I'm not that familiar with parts of the park.  Then to Costa on Allerton road for some revivifying coffee & hot chocolate.

Lola has been quite a few days without her iphone (she changed the passcode then immediately forgot it)  and we went to carphone warehouse "Geek Squad" to get this sorted, but they botched it - we suspect not a real geek. So Lola & I will head into town today to get it sorted.

A new black-and-white cat has been making itself popular around here this week, cementing our resolve to get one soon (all but Fred who is of course, scared). Altho' this one has extremely thick hair and I noticed Lola sneezing a lot after the cat has been visiting.  Or a dog, as we do all enjoy a walk in the many woods and parks around here but it's the impetus for getting outside that's missing.

The chickens have been all over the place, as Dh keeps "mending" the fence in exactly the same manner each time.  I hope this Einstein quote is genuine, as it occurs to me quite often in life!

The two big Elderberry trees appear to have died - I haven't investigated thoroughly yet due to the weather, but they are both lying on the ground! This is good as they are extremely invasive and it clears up a bit more space in the garden. Once the weather is dry I'll have a go at them with my chainsaw. Fun!
