Husband's Birthday / Holiday

Wow! We had an amazing three days without the children, staying in this shepherd's hut in the middle of nowhere. For its website click here. It's at Chipping Warden, Oxfordshire / Norhamptionshire.
This was the view in all directions! and at the bottom of the field, the river Cherwell. It was the only thing you could hear.
There were no neighbours of any description - except horses, pigs & chickens Very close by!

We really enjoyed the quiet.
The weather was lovely the first day, we went for a 3-hour walk in the countryside, down bridlepaths, ending up at an Indian restaurant for tea.
Then on Thursday we went to Stratford On Avon, we walked around the public square by the river Avon, and had a look at Anne Hathaway's Cottage. Also there was a Bible exhibition in the town hall, put on by the local Christadelphians, it was quite comprehensive! Then we went to the National Herb Centre, which had Gorgeous gardens. We loved it! It rained an awful lot that day, but we never actually got caught in it!
That evening we went to Banbury for chips. Due to SatNav issues I think we passed thru Banbury about 5 times before getting back to the Shepherd's Hut.
That night it was very windy & absolutely tipping down, but we were quite cosy in the hut.
Early this morning I enjoyed lighting this wood burning stove. it was so cosy!
We saw so many pretty old country houses and gardens.

The bathroom - not to everyone's taste i suppose, but it was  fine. It had an eco - loo,  and no door - just a curved "corridor".

adorable!
There was local produce provided for our breakfasts - all the usual cooked breakfast stuff with a George Foreman grill to cook it on, there were drinks, some chocolate cookies, plums & a little vase of flowers.

I loved everything about the hut & the location. I would most certainly go again!
And thank the Lord for our loving family who contributed towards the trip, and looked after the children so we could have such a peaceful time!
