Friday - Caleb's Funeral

It was Caleb Anderson's funeral on Friday 4th May.  He was a lovely old Jamaican man from church - a very sweet granddad type, he used to welcome people into the church & often prayed for us.  I can only remember him with a smile.  He had myeloma.  His wife of 51 years, Merle, likes to keep in the background but, if anything needed doing, she would quietly do it.
They were well represented at the funeral, I think there were about 200 people there including some old rasta men come over from Jamaica to pay their respects.
Then we went to the graveside and sang while Jane played her accordion. The men of the family took up spades and completely filled in the grave - is that usual?
Then back to the Noah's Ark to mix with the family and  food - there was amazing Jamaican food, i had spicy veg stew & really creamy macaroni cheese - the food was catered by d'Flava of Smithdown Road - we must try it!
It was lovely meeting Caleb & Merle's family & seeing how many people he touched during his life.  And so wonderful to see Merle knows so surely where we will meet Caleb again.
