Hens, Cornerstone

This week we bought a chicken coop and put it up in the dining room! By the back door. The chicks are getting on well in there. We put a couple of broom handles across the bars inside for perches.
It's really interesting about the pecking order - Galadriel is the first to do everything. Sometimes another bird is clearly able to do something, but they'll hang back and let her go first.
They do all face-up to each other and  there's some pecking at each other, but Galad always comes out on top.
They are so much bigger - in appearance no longer chickies, but cute mini hens. They are endlessly entertaining.
Emmy is the biggest. Beyonce (Bey Bey) has the sweetest face!
On Friday I changed their pink fleece groundsheet for a camo-coloured one. They all immediately started rolling around - I think trying to have dustbaths. It didn't work!
I can't wait for them to go outside, it seems a bit cruel to keep them in here, they constantly scratch at the floor to no avail! But they aren't big or feathered enough to keep themselves warm outside yet.
So the dining room is utterly full with the usual 2 bikes, dinner table, coop and various piles of stuff / paperwork everywhere. This week's aim is to get on top of the piles of stuff as i can't do anything about the bikes or coop.
Ruby & I went to Cornerstone's Prayer & Praise evening last night, where I sat with a friend from a BSF group years ago, and had a great chat with her & Carrie from Home Ed, over cakes afterward. Lovely!
