I have just finished Francis Chan's "Crazy Love", which I highly recommend to anyone who's alive! It is brilliant, encouraging, real, well worth taking it slowly & taking it in properly.
And just interspersed it with "This strange new life" by Rachel Anderson - a novelisation of her two teen son's ME/CFS- chronic fatigue syndrome. Interesting!
Now I just started David Platt's "Radical" - Both Radical & Crazy Love are titles that kept popping up in the blogs of people I look up to - people who are saying YES to God!
I was reading Radical before church this morning, comparing some of it to what is happening in my church, wondering...
Then the sermon was on John chapter 21...Jesus: "Do you love me? Feed my sheep". Do you truly love me?
And I was encouraged to hear my pastor speaking of these same things I had been wondering about this morning. If you love Jesus you will take up your cross. It will be heavy & hurt. It will be unpleasant, costly, exhausting....and SO WORTH IT!
Also mentioned: the value of willingness to do God's will, as compared to ability to do churchy things.
Good! Sometimes I wonder....
Thank God for being in charge of all these messy humans!
