They do not believe in God. They will not acknowledge Him, they do not accept his offer of salvation from an eternity in hell.
They know I'm a christian, love workin' at church etc. But the actual truth of the gospel never came up in conversation. We have such a "nice" time at their house. I wouldn't want to ruin the atmosphere. And (unlike me) they are extremely reluctant to disagree with people, they would hate to hurt anyone's feelings. They are adorable!
So adorable in fact, it seems I would rather let them run headlong into Damnation than annoy them with an uncomfortable truth.
Not any more.
At christmas I wrote each a card with the gospel inside & an invitation to trust in Jesus for themselves.
With a lot of trepidation & prayer I posted them.
I thought, "I am willing to suffer mockery / being thought of as mad if it gets them to the gospel"
three months later.
no-one has mentioned anything.
I am praying.
I met one of my sweet in-laws today and asked what he thought of the card.
I listened as he told me oh-so-respectfully what he thought.
I continue to pray.
